The trick to weight loss is not how to lose the weight, but how to keep the weight off. Here are a slew of tips, some of which you already  know but may have forgotten, as well as some new and unique ones to help you shrink your tummy, flatten your stomach, lose weight all over and feel great.

  1. Learn to use kim milk instead of whole or low fat milk.Based on two cups per day, you'll save a total of 14,600 calories per year.
  2. Steer clear of fruit juices which are loaded with sugar.
  3. Decrease the amount of butter and oil you use for cooking and with food.
  4. Beware of creamy salad dressings. They can have a whopping 18 grams of fat per two tablespoons.
  5. Switch to low fat mayo and cheese.
  6. Snack on lean, protein rich foods, which help suppress the appetite.
  7. Try to have a nutritious pre lunch and pre dinner snack one half hour before sitting down to your meal. This allows your brain to register the fact that you are not ravenously hungry.
  8. Chew slowly and thoroughly.
  9. Avoid toe tapping music.Diners who listen to classical music take three bits a minute versus five for rock music.
  10. Do not eat in front of the TV. You are distracted from what you are eating.
  11. Put your fork down between bites so you don't rush through the meal. That way, the first part of your meal will reach your small intestine and kick in the CCK hormone.
  12. Stop eating when you're full, even if you haven't finished what's on your plate.
  13. Take your plate away or have the waiter remove it as soon as you're done.
  14. Start your meal with two glasses of water.
  15. Add ice to burn off another 40 calories per glass as your metabolism is revved up to warm the body.
  16. Avoid drinking large quantities of liquid during a meal since it dilutes your salivary enzymes which help break down your food faster.
  17. Never skip meals
  18. Never eat while standing.
  19. Eat three regular meals and two or three small snacks daily.
  20. At the end of a meal, brush your teeth or chew gum to discourage further eating.
  21. Use a smaller plate, fill it once. The idea is to trick the brain into thinking you've eaten a whole plate full.
  22. Do not bring large bowls of food to the table. Dish out portions from the kitchen.
  23. If the restaurant you visit serves huge portions , ask for a container and put half in BEFORE you start eating. That effectively limites the amount you can eat at one sitting.
  24. Never force a child to clean their plates. Kids know when they're full.
  25. Don't eat by the clock. If you've had a large lunch and are not hungry for dinner, have a small sarad or a small bowl of soup.Don't skip dinner or you'll be up for a midnight snack.
  26. Think before you eat. Translate each bite into calories, then figure how much exercise you'll need to burn it off.
  27. Avoid all you can eat buffets. They are a dieter's worst nightmare and a very bad, bad way to shrink your stomach. The temptation is simply too great.
  28. Don't punish yourself. If you've eaten too much at one meal, don't skip the next one as a penalty.Simply make your portion smaller.
  29. Reward yourself. At the end of each day allow yourself a treat a piece of chocolate , a Fudgsicle, a slice of angel food cake, fruit, sorbet, non fat ice cream or reduced fat frozen yogurt.
  30. Allow enought time after dinner to take a walk or digest your food. The worst thing to do is eat late then tumble right into bed.
